All rights reserved. 2 aspire Spring 2019 New class of Aspirus Scholars Mark your calendar for June 28 Spirits at the Lake is an annual fundraising event at Bass Lake Golf Course inDeerbrook, Wisconsin. This year’s event is June 28 and features vintage-themed circus décor with live music, raffles, silent auction, dinner, golf and entertainment. Evening tickets are $35 in advance. All proceeds benefit The Community Health Foundation of Aspirus Langlade Hospital. Last year’s event raisedmore than $148,000, whichwas granted throughout the community, including projects for local schools, EMS, Volm Cancer Center and Rosalia Gardens. Themission of The Community Health Foundation is to identify needs, raise funds and award grants to advance health care and the health and well-being of people in Antigo and neighboring communities served by Aspirus Langlade Hospital. SHARETHESPIRIT For more information, call 715.623.9557 . The Aspirus Health Foundation announced its latest class of Aspirus Scholars in February. Four medical students from the Medical College of Wisconsin – Central Wisconsin campus were awarded scholarships totaling $550,000 for tuition. The Aspirus Scholars Program provides scholarships tomedical students and connects them to Aspirus and the communities served by Aspirus during their training. In return, the students commit to employment at Aspirus in the areas of primary care, psychiatry or general surgery. This is the third group of medical students to receive scholarships through the program, which was created to help tackle the growing physician shortage hospitals face nationwide. This year’s recipients include: X X Madeline Klippel, second-year medical student. X X Hannah Marti, first-year medical student. X X Joseph Novak, first-year medical student. X X Natalie Weeks, first-year medical student. WHEN: Monday, Aug. 5 WHERE: Wausau Country Club TIME: 8 a.m. for nine holes; noon for up to 18 holes as time allows. WHAT: Best ball scramble format. Prizes awarded for best dressed team, best dressed caddy, cart décor andmore. An evening celebration dinner will also be held after golf.
